Former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Lauds Dallas, Mexico Efforts to Expand Cross-Border Business, Trade Relations Mexico City, Mexico, June 5, 2009 - The following statement in support of today's Memorandum of Understanding signing between the City of Dallas and ProMexico may be attributed to former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Tony Garza: "While Mexico faces many of the same challenges we all do in terms of the current global economic situation, the long-term prospects for recovery are good, and today's announcement from Mayor Tom Leppert and ProMexico's Bruno Ferrari is proof positive that the future is indeed bright. "This expanded effort to grow cross-border business and trade relations is a testament to President Felipe Calderon's commitment to build an economically vibrant Mexico, to Bruno Ferrari's work to encourage cross-border trade, and to Mayor Leppert's vision for Dallas to play an even bigger part in driving our state and U.S. economies. "As Gov. Rick Perry is fond of saying, 'Texas is wide open for business," and there's no better time than now and no better place than Texas for Mexican companies looking north for further growth. Mexico, too, presents boundless opportunities for Texas and U.S. businesses looking for a solid platform for expansion and direct investment." # # # Media contact: |
